A.A.T.B.D. Examinations and Performance Opportunities

ADP proudly teaches the Australian Academy of Theatrical and Ballet Dancing Incorporated (A.A.T.B.D.) syllabus within our regular Ballet, Jazz and Tap classes.

The syllabus provides structured, progressive training that develops technique, musicality, performance quality, confidence and discipline. There are currently no separate examination classes, and sitting examinations is completely optional.

Students who choose to participate can have their progress formally assessed, further develop their skills and work through the A.A.T.B.D. levels. For those wishing to pursue dance education professionally, these examinations can also provide a pathway towards becoming qualified A.A.T.B.D. teachers and examiners.

A.A.T.B.D. also offers additional opportunities for ADP students, including:

• Ballerina Test: A fun and encouraging introduction to ballet assessment for our youngest students - Invite only

• Own Choreography Competition: An opportunity for students to create and perform their own original choreography while developing creativity and confidence.

• Trophy Day: A performance event where students can represent ADP and compete in the troupe sections and in the solo sections.                                                                                      (students to have passed the following exams prior to entering the solo sections: BRONZE TAP, GRADE 2 THEATRICAL, GRADE 2 JAZZ AND/OR GRADE 2 BALLET - to perform any style/genre of routine.​ Students can only compete once in their age group).

Participation in A.A.T.B.D. examinations and events is optional for our recreational students, allowing students to choose the opportunities that best support their individual goals and love of performing.
